Veins are collector vessels that carry blood towards the heart. They begin as capillaries and gradually become thicker. A characteristic feature is that their walls contain a thin layer of smooth muscle, making them less elastic. They typically have low elasticity and do not resist the distending effect of blood, allowing them to accommodate larger volumes of blood. When someone says that blood stagnates in their veins, it usually refers to this problem.

The role of valves in the veins, which direct blood flow, is well known; during therapy, we exploit this when administering injection treatments. However, there are limitations to this approach. If the valves are completely damaged and no longer function, the injection procedure will not yield the desired results!

More than 50% of the Hungarian population is affected by some form of varicose vein problem. Sclerotherapy, which involves injecting spider veins, is applicable for less dilated varicose veins measuring approximately 1-3 mm in diameter. During the procedure, the injection is given directly into the small vessels, causing the vessel walls to adhere. Up to 2 ml of the active ingredient can be administered per session per leg, and the varicose vein treatment takes a few minutes, depending on the area. Using a fine needle, the substance quickly spreads along the veins. A polarized headlamp allows the doctor to see beneath the skin, ensuring the treatment substance is safely delivered into the vein. Polidocanol is ineffective outside the vein, so delivering the substance into the vein is very important.

The artificially induced mild inflammation is complemented by post-treatment compression therapy, which causes the vessel walls to adhere, occluding and absorbing the affected vein. The sealed and absorbed vein’s function is taken over by the surrounding veins, redirecting blood flow in the normal direction.

The treatment is visually striking; during the injection of the substance, the treated capillaries and spider veins visibly fade. For this result to be lasting, preventing blood from flowing back into the veins, post-treatment compression therapy is necessary. The patient can safely perform this standing on a step. Assistance is provided to the doctor, holding the small lumps/balls. This process is a crucial part of the procedure as it helps compress the vessel wall and prevents backflow. The completely emptied, adhered, and thus occluded veins disappear without a trace after a few weeks.

[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner css=”.vc_custom_1714633764928{margin-bottom: 0px !important;border-bottom-width: 0px !important;padding-bottom: 0px !important;}”][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”1301″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” css=”.vc_custom_1714633775912{margin-bottom: 0px !important;border-bottom-width: 0px !important;padding-bottom: 0px !important;}”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”1302″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” css=”.vc_custom_1714633770851{margin-bottom: 0px !important;border-bottom-width: 0px !important;padding-bottom: 0px !important;}”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_column_text css=””]

It may be necessary to undergo multiple treatments. In cases of larger lesions, it might be required to repeat the treatment, or new vein dilations may develop over time.

The procedure is not painful, but like any intervention, it can have complications. Therefore, it is very important to follow the medical instructions to achieve the best possible recovery. Leaving with a bandage is not a problem; you can put on your shoes, and with the proper fastening of the bandage, you can drive/travel as well. If you feel the bandage is very tight, you may loosen it slightly, but do not remove it completely! Pigmentation (discoloration) may occur in sensitive patients, which can be supported with various dermatological preparations. A tight pain immediately after the procedure is normal, decreasing and disappearing within a day or two. Temporary circulatory overload can be compensated with compression bandages or stockings. The complete disappearance of injected vein segments occurs within 8-12 weeks, although patients may experience this differently. Those with sensitive skin may report mild local reactions, but these are merely local reactions. It should be emphasized that injection treatment, sclerotherapy, occludes the affected vein segment, but over time, new vein dilations may develop elsewhere, which can also be effectively treated with sclerotherapy.

Recurrence may occur, with varicose veins appearing again after an otherwise successful procedure. In this case, the venous condition may further deteriorate. Due to worsening conditions, previously healthy vessel segments may also open or dilate, which previously fulfilled their functions well. Closed vein segments, with the progression of chronic disease, can also lead to the formation of new dilated vessels. If recurrence occurs, the treatment must be repeated. This is usually due to physiological events such as pregnancy, obesity, untreated thrombosis, or prolonged flights without compression stockings.

If fever occurs, or if a limb suddenly swells or experiences throbbing pain, it is essential to immediately consult your treating physician or contact us using the options provided on our website! Thrombosis is rare during capillary treatment, and skin necrosis occurs in very few cases. The literature describes only one or two cases of allergies.

Overall, sclerotherapy is one of the most commonly used excellent procedures today for alleviating venous complaints. It is also excellent for removing the smallest vessels cosmetically!

Other Venous Alterations: Aside from varicose veins, other forms of venous networks can appear very differently. The dilations, particularly in the upper limbs, mainly cause cosmetic complaints on the backs of the hands. Occasionally, they can be painful and become inflamed. In the case of hands, the narrower bandage should be left on the treated area for one day, after which it can be removed, allowing the daily routine to continue as usual.

Additionally, significant dilations causing complaints may occur in the perineal area after an episiotomy, which can also be treated.

For venous dilations around the genital area, compression therapy is not necessary.

[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”56″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”1299″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row el_id=”rf-kezeles” css=”.vc_custom_1705673771105{margin-top: 50px !important;}”][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_column_text css=””]

Spider Vein Dilatation – Transcutaneous Radiofrequency Treatment

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”3/4″][vc_column_text css=””]

In simpler terms: This is a special radiofrequency procedure for treating venous dilations. The surgical treatment of varicose veins is evolving.

The diverse manifestations of varicose veins, their varying etiology, and the need for comparability in measuring treatment outcomes led to the classification of the condition, facilitating international comparative studies and result evaluations. Among non-invasive procedures, the radiofrequency device was one of the first, that has entered our country. Radiofrequency (RF) treatment has been used in medicine for over 80 years. The procedure, based on the principle of thermo-coagulation, was the first to ensure rapid heat generation within tissues. This thermal effect can be used for cutting and hemorrhage control, and it remains the primary method of medical radiofrequency application today.

Over time, experiences gained from applying radiofrequency and a deeper understanding of tissue regeneration have refined the technique. The location and depth of the thermal effect are now much better controllable, allowing for more delicate applications. Thus, radiofrequency has gradually become a tool in aesthetic and vascular surgery. Post-procedure, burning, skin necrosis, or pigmentation is rarely observed. Clinical trials conducted during the development of the device have shown an efficacy rate exceeding 90%, which is exceptionally high for the treatment of small-diameter vessels. Therefore, in our clinic, we apply this procedure only to small so-called capillary veins, specifically for cases involving hemangiomas (vascular tumors) on the nose, face, and throughout the body. The cosmetic results of the procedure are extremely favorable, involving minimal strain from approximately half-hour sessions of tiny needle punctures. Many practices still prioritize radiofrequency for its advantages, including lower temperatures, which allow for effective treatment of smaller vessels.

Overall, we consider radiofrequency treatment to be the most suitable method for treating spider veins, reticular veins, and rosacea. The treatments are nearly painless and do not require additional anesthesia. The needle prick may be uncomfortable, but it is tolerable. Our therapeutic recommendations include the most modern wound care and healing methods available in Hungary today. We are continuously expanding our arsenal of tools to facilitate the healing process with the latest technologies.

Dr. István Rozsos has been dealing with chronic wound care since 1984 and is one of the country’s recognized vascular surgeons. He has developed several innovations and, starting from 1994, has elaborated the tactics for chronic wound care in several books. The widespread promotion of the MEROVA method, appropriate information for diabetics living in Hungary, and the mission of saving limbs at risk due to complications from diabetes and venous circulation disorders are our goals.

This method was developed in collaboration with Dr. László Mecseky and Dr. Gergely Vadász, enabling the saving of thousands of limbs over the past 30 years. Unfortunately, Hungary leads Europe in the number of amputations, even though most of these interventions could be preventable with proper knowledge and careful care. Hasty amputations initiate irreversible processes at the individual, family, and societal levels, while also placing a significant burden on rehabilitation services. We see the solution in healthcare innovation and the emphasis on prevention.

With this method, both patients and our medical colleagues can get closer to the successful treatment of complications arising from diabetes and venous circulation disorders, thereby saving limbs. We provide support for diabetics, patients with varicose veins, and those suffering from complications of these diseases. Through condition assessments, we help those struggling with these issues, creating medical records and diagnoses based on their responses, and providing advice and suggestions for their recovery.

We offer professional consultation for medical colleagues and healthcare professionals—”Let’s save limbs, let’s save lives!”

On our closed medical platform, we assist our colleagues in successful healing with specific case studies. Along with demonstrating correct examples, we provide prescription aids tailored to the wound phase, as well as treatment and supplementary therapy recommendations. Additionally, a conference calendar and an SOS hotline are available. If you would like to request access to the closed medical platform, please email info@vegtagmento.hu.

Our application is available for free on both iOS and Android devices, ensuring wide access. Skin growths (moles, fibromas, lipomas, etc.) can be removed using various methods, including freezing, burning, or laser treatment. However, for moles, only surgical removal with a scalpel is professionally acceptable. This is because histological examination is required after mole removals, which is the only way to ensure with full certainty that there is no malignancy, such as melanoma.

Tissue vaporized by laser cannot be sampled for histology. Well-defined and permanent skin lesions are clearly distinguishable from the surrounding skin in terms of color and structure. They may be present at birth or develop later in life. Local anesthesia is always used for the procedure. Our surgical specialist removes the mole entirely, leaving a narrow margin of healthy tissue (typically 2-5 mm) with a leaf-shaped incision. After this, the resulting skin defect from the incision is sutured with a fine needle using an intracutaneous stitch. Patients are informed about the histology results within 1-2 weeks. A small bandage is placed on the wound, and patients are advised on how to change the dressing at home.

We remove the mole using a tissue-sparing technique to minimize the risk of scarring. Ideally, only a fine line remains on the skin, but in patients prone to scarring, the outcome may not meet expectations. Various creams can improve the appearance, but the scarring process is influenced by multiple factors. It matters what genetic traits, skin type, and pigmentation the individual has, how deep the wound was, and precisely where it occurred on the body. Age is also significant, as younger skin tends to regenerate better and is more prone to overgrowth than older skin. Furthermore, prompt and professional wound care, as well as exposure to extreme heat or light during healing, are crucial factors. Depending on these aspects, we can observe normal (i.e., faint, thin) healing and abnormal scars. The cosmetic result also depends on the location of the removed mole: the face typically heals very well, while areas like the back, spine, or décolletage—which are subject to more skin movement and strain—may heal more slowly.

Types of Moles:

Congenital Moles: Small (<1.5 cm) or giant (>20 cm) moles that develop within the first year of life, which may contain hair. In some extremely rare cases, they are congenital, where the nail matrix does not conform to the toe. However, trauma, such as a toe amputation or injury—like being kicked or stepped on—can also contribute to the problem. The most common cause, however, is more mundane: tight shoes, but primarily improper nail care and cutting techniques lead to this uncomfortable situation. The nail plate embeds into the surrounding soft tissues, which can nearly overgrow it. This issue can cause significant pain and, in some cases, pus-filled inflammation, making treatments from specially trained pedicurists effective, though surgical intervention might also be necessary for healing. An embedded nail can trigger an inflammatory response, and the chance of secondary infection significantly increases (notably, the characteristic symptoms of an ingrown toenail—redness, sensitivity, swelling, and pus discharge—do not always indicate infection; they can also be signs of acute inflammation).

The causes of an ingrown toenail can include:

A nail that is too wide or excessively curved, which irritates the surrounding area.

Improper nail care practices, such as cutting the nail too short or with sharp edges, which can injure the surrounding area.

Overgrowth of the soft tissues around the nail.

Environmental factors that constrict the toes.

Most deformities can be managed effectively by a skilled pedicurist or podiatrist, and nail shaping is now recognized as a modern treatment solution.

In most cases, ingrown toenails do not lead to complications, and complete recovery is expected. However, healing can take several weeks, depending on the severity of the condition and the chosen treatment method. Neglected or improperly treated ingrown toenails can result in acute or chronic nail bed inflammation, secondary infections in the affected area, and inflammation may spread over time to deeper tissues or even the bones. In extreme cases, partial or complete nail loss can occur. These processes pose significant risks for diabetic patients, who may lack pain sensation due to neuropathy, reducing their motivation to seek solutions. In more severe cases, it is necessary to assess which area (the nail itself, the surrounding tissues, or both) is responsible for the condition’s development, and based on this, determine the appropriate surgical procedure. Surgery may involve removing or excising part of the nail or soft tissues.

This painful procedure is performed quickly using specialized extraction tools, after which the patient typically feels relief. The open wound is treated with a special dressing, and a bandage is applied, allowing the patient to leave on their own. During recovery, it is advisable to avoid wearing flip-flops or sandals. While these allow for free movement of the toes, they increase the risk of accidentally hitting the already injured, painful toe. Later, wear shoes that do not constrict the toes; cut nails straight across, avoiding sharp corners; and keep feet clean and dry. If you are unsure about the proper nail cutting technique, consult a trained pedicurist.

Complete recovery can take several weeks. The recurrence rate of inflamed nails is high, so it is advisable to keep a few preventive measures in mind. Avoid synthetic socks and opt for cotton socks instead. Treating hemorrhoids, particularly internal hemorrhoids, has now established non-surgical methods that are effective and have significantly fewer unpleasant side effects than traditional hemorrhoid surgeries. By addressing the factors that cause hemorrhoids, long-term symptom relief can be achieved, reducing the likelihood of recurrence or new hemorrhoid formation.

It is crucial to investigate hemorrhoids because several other conditions can cause similar symptoms, which should be identified in a timely manner to prevent more severe issues from developing. The examination involves visual inspection, palpation, and a rectal examination performed in the knee-elbow position. Hemorrhoids can occur at almost any age, but symptoms typically become more frequent after age 40, with almost one in two people aged 50-60 experiencing issues related to hemorrhoids during their lifetime. Common symptoms include pain and itching during bowel movements, minor bleeding, and palpable protrusions. Untreated hemorrhoids can lead to serious complications such as thrombosis, bleeding, anemia, and inflammation.

Description of the Condition: Hemorrhoids are swollen vascular structures located in the lower part of the rectum or around the anal opening. In the early stage I, conservative measures such as dietary changes, medication, and topical treatments can relieve symptoms. In more advanced stage II, outpatient procedures such as BAND LIGATION (Baron ligature placement) can address the problem if only one area is affected. It is advised to have a bowel movement on the day of the examination, preferably right before. Proper visibility and palpation access are essential, with the knee-elbow position being most suitable.

During the procedure, an anoscopy is performed to locate the origin of the hemorrhoids, and a special instrument is used to place a rubber band around the base of the hemorrhoid (ligation). The placement of the anoscope is facilitated by a local anesthetic ointment.
